This event is intended to be of benefit to those who come into contact with or are likely to come into contact with adult survivors of Adverse Childhood Experiences in the course of their work and who wish to gain an insight into Dissociative Identity Disorder, PTSD and the overall effects of trauma.
The presentation and workshop are based on both factual research and lived experiences from a survivor's perspective. Nonetheless, the experiences, symptoms and behaviours discussed are common in survivors of numerous life events experienced at any age. The aim is to provide awareness of the types of trauma related conditions known to exist with a view to attendees developing a basic understanding of the subject but which will equip them to deal with individuals potentially experiencing symptoms and have the confidence to discuss the possibilities with colleagues or supervisors.
Rethinking Responses is designed to encourage participants to think about their physical, emotional and mental responses to past events and anxieties over future events. It offers a different perspective on past and future, and the importance of being in the present moment. It is available to anyone and can be helpful to those experiencing negative thought patterns, stress and anxiety triggers etc.
